No. 6 team Creamy Delight upset No. 3 Sunkist, 90-83, while Nestea held off Cobra, 88-81, in the quarter-finals of the Fil-Sino Asia Brewery Cup Class B at the Bacolod Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gym, Monday night.
Creamy Delight will face Vitamilk in the semi-finals while Nestea have to overcome the twice-to-beat advantage of top seed Summit.
Trailing 58-66 towards the end game, Creamy Delight narrowed the gap as the trio of Jay Taleon , Jerson Mira and Jessie Moreño led the surge.
Taleon scored 12 points while teammates, Jerson Mira and Moreño added 8 points each in the payoff quarter to rally for the win.
With his heroics, Taleon led Creamy Delight with 18 points while Moreño added 14and Mira shot 12 points.
Sunkist, who outscored Creamy Delight in the first three quarters was led by Ruel Bahian with 22 points as Bam Guevarra tallied 21 and Gerson Medel with 14 points.
Meanwhile, a twin 27-point output for Nestea in the first and second quarter allowed the squad to move ahead of Cobra at the half, 54-37, behind an 11-point contribution from Rey Pandoro and 10 points each from Harry Siendo and Clarence Quingco.
Glin Ortaliz added 8 points to Creamy Delight’s production while Jeremy Coo and Brix Arrobang had a combined 17 points for Cobra.
Playing catch up in the fourth quarter, Cobra managed to trim Creamy Delight’s lead to 68-60 behind Nico Yap and Buddy Eufre while Ervin Tan and Mark Yu held the fort for Nestea with 6 points each.
Jeremy Coo and Alvan Rodriguez scored 5 points apiece to lead a balanced Cobra offensive but Nestea countered with Dante Ma, Pandoro and Jasper Geolingo combining for 17 points to advance to the semifinals
Pandoro paced Nestea with 17 points, Ma added 14,.Siendo drilled 13, and Geolingo shot 9 points.
Coo finished with 14 points, Arrobang and Bobil Alagaban made 10 pts. apiece, Rodriguez had 9, Eufre shot 8 and Johann Villanueva with 6 points.*
