The Department of Tourism Region VI, in partnership with the Provincial Tourism Office of Negros Occidental, recently held a Food and Beverage Service Training at Nature’s Village Resort in Talisay City, its press release said.
This is a program of the DOT on tourism industry skills, and the first batch of training participants were food and beverage service providers from Mambukal Resort, and restaurants from Murcia and Talisay City.
Resource speaker was Lorenzo Rojo, an expert in the field of the food service industry, who discussed the roles and responsibilities of the F&B personnel, occupational safety and health, personal grooming and hygiene and workplace safety and sanitation, customer service, and guest engagement, the press release said.
The three-day activity focused on hands-on training and actual demonstration on the dining room and restaurant set-up, table setting, guest service sequence and food and beverage service procedures, table and napkin set-up, and tray handling. Participants also did role-playing and team games, in relation to topics discussed.
The training is part of the series of DOT-funded training grants, in partnership with the Asian Development Bank, and was aimed at enhancing tourism competitiveness, increasing employment in the tourism sector, as well as improving the skills of the frontliners in the tourism services sector.
The next batches of training is scheduled on May 2-4 for Silay and EB Magalona; May 15-17 for Sagay, Escalante, Cadiz and Manapla; and June 19-21, for Toboso, San Carlos, Calatrava and DS Benedicto.
