Project development officers of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) from Manila are in Dumaguete City and Negros Oriental this week as part of the campaign to conduct a house-to-house validation of beneficiaries and their cash cards.
Failure of the beneficiaries to show their cash cards to the spot checkers from the Department of Social Welfare and Development from Manila will mean that their cash cards were loaned or pawned.
DSWD provincial link Bella Tse said the spot checking that started April 3, 2017 in Manila is conducted by regions to validate reports of cash cards being pawned to get small loans from loan sharks, who normally collect 20 percent monthly interest, to the prejudice of the 4Ps members.
This week is the schedule for Dumaguete City and Bacong town in Negros Oriental, and Region 3.
Dumaguete has more than 1,100 households, and 52,577 all over Negros Oriental, who are beneficiaries of the government’s conditional cash transfer program.*
