A anti-drug operation in Barangay Looc, Dumaguete City yesterday resulted in the arrest of a suspected drug pusher and six others, who were allegedly caught having a pot session in Zone 4 in the barangay.
Provincial Intelligence Branch-Special operations Group-Philippine Drug Enforcement Administration operatives divided themselves into three groups when tipped about the activity of a certain Irin Iligan Mabilog, 37, single, of Zone 4 in Looc, in order to block possible exits of the subject in case of an escape.
However, after Mabilog was busted along with three others, namely, Lowell Villamil, Ebenezer Yangco and Dario Banabana who were caught in a pot session, three other were also seen while sniffing shabu by the blocking team. They was identified as Arnaldo Balahan, Daryl Pis-an and a certain Loreto Cabasag who eluded arrest.
Recovered from Mabilog were five plastic sachets believed to contain shabu, the marked money, and other illegal drugs paraphernalia. The five who were caught sniffing allegedly had in their possession illegal drugs paraphernalia, like tin foil, and disposable lighters, among others.
Three of those arrested are pedicab drivers in their 40s and 50s. They were Villamil, who is from Valencia, Yangco from Calo, San Jose, and Bana-bana who is from Tubtubon, Sibulan.
In an interview, the pedicab drivers said they occasionally sniff shabu to be awake while driving, and to ease muscle pains in their shoulders. The raiding team headed by S/Ins Armel Von Alegria, said they received information that the selling of shabu in the area is rampant and blatant even during daytime, so a test buy was conducted that showed positive results.*JG
