win in EBC Cup caging


JAKA/HEI outlasted KAL/Avescor/Nirvana, 80-69, while IBP Negros rolled over past HandBac, 88-77, Wednesday night in the EBC Cup 2018 First Conference in Manville Subdivision, Brgy. Pahanocoy, Bacolod City.

With a close contest all throughout, JAKA/HEI got the break on Rizal Labordo’s two consecutive 3-point shots and converted fastbreak points off two crucial steals in the final three minutes to tame t KAL/Avescor/Nirvana.

Guillermo Legaria and Drex Tingson took turns in controlling the boards while fearlessly driving through the traffic towards the basket for a combined 25-point production for JAKA/HEI.

Raymund Ferrer scored 18 points to lead KAL/Avescor/Nirvana as Butchoy Dahili, Natz Galvez and Edwin Layon added 10 points each.

In the second game, IBP Negros, even undermanned, proved to be too strong for Handbac. They cruised with a double digit lead in the entire game.

IBP's James Utana and Charlie Baño pounced on the defense of Handbac by combining for a monstrous 53 points.

Avelino Auriño and Ronald Caberte both contributed 13 points to topscore for Handbac in a losing effort.*
