Cobra books q’finals seat
in Fil-Sino Class B caging

 

Cobra advanced to the quarterfinals of the Fil-Sino Asia Brewery Cup Class B after a 76-65 win against Sunkist, at the Bacolod Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gym in Bacolod City Tuesday night.

Joining them in the scramble for the top spot is Absolute squad which eliminated Coco Fresh, 67-40, in the other game.

Cobra improved to 5-4 while Sunkist absorbed its second loss after nine outings.

Jeremy Coo scored seven points to lead Cobra to a 21-8 lead in the opening quarter but Sunkist bounced back and outscored Cobra in the next three quarters.

But with the first quarter cushion, Cobra had some elbow room in the final minutes to turn back Sunkist and advance to the next round.

Coo paced Cobra with 19 points while Brix Arrobang added 14. Ruel Bahian topscored for Sunkist with 15 points.

In the curtain raiser must-win game for both teams, Absolute pummeled Coco Fresh to stay alive for a quarterfinals slot .

Absolute finished their elimination round at 4-5 and its fate hinges on the results of the final elimination game playing as of presstime .

After Absolute held a slim 15-14 lead in the opening minutes, they limited Coco Fresh to 13 points in the next two quarters to erect a commanding 57-27 lead at the end of the third canto.

Archie Bayquin led Absolute with 14 points as DK Equipaje and Andre Tan drilled 11 points each.

Ralph Ong had 10 points for Coco Fresh backstopped by Allan Elevencionado and Rodolfo Sabio who combined for 19 points.*
