‘Someone to come home to’
BY CHRYSEE G. SAMILLANO

The 23-year-old bride of Murcia Mayor Andrew Montelibano, 44, arrived at the St. John The Baptist Oratorium in Hda. Binitin, Murcia, Negros Occidental on board a bronze Maserati Quattroporte, a luxury sports sedan, owned by actress Assunta de Rossi at a little past 4 p.m. Saturday.

Smoke filled the center aisle of the church lined with white flowers as Charmaine Hernandez walked towards the altar where her groom was waiting.

Montelibano at the reception said it was a day he would never forget. He will now have someone to come home to, he said.

He told his bride that he will be there for her and not to worry since he will not die early. He will live up to 103 years old, he said in jest, that made the crowd burst into laughter.

Montelibano said “I’m giving my vow and myself to you. Just take good care of it.”

The bride was accompanied by her parents Wilfredo and Eileen Hernandez, while Montelibano was accompanied by his godparents, aunt Margie and uncle Vicente Macasa.

The couple’s principal sponsors includedtop officials like Senator Maria Lourdes Nancy Binay-Angeles, Presidential spokesman Harry Roque, former Vice President Jejomar Binay Sr., Neg. Occ. Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr., Reps. Alfredo Benitez and Joseph Stephen Paduano, and Taguig Mayor Ma. Laarni Lopez-Cayetano and former Rep. Julio Ledesma IV.

Binay-Angeles said she felt like she was watching the wedding of her son since she knew Montelibano since 2011.

She said that those who attended were joking before the wedding if this was real.

“Finally, he was able to take the plunge,” Binay-Angeles said, giggling.

She wished that the couple would start having children, she said.

Rep. Alfredo Benitez (Neg. Occ., 3 rd District), one of the couple’s principal sponsors, said “For him (Montelibano) to decide to settle down, she must be the one because he waited this long.”

As they say “You save the best for last,” he said.

According to the officiating priest, “it is a match made in heaven,” Benitez added.

Eileen Hernandez, the mother of the bride welcomed Montelibano to their family and asked him to respect and take good care of their princess, during the reception at L’Fisher Hotel.*CGS
