MSW Bleachers, Silver Graces
battle for Fil-Sino Class A title

 

MSW Bleachers Fil-Sino Brew Kettle and Silver Graces Construction/Supreme Beer na Beer will dispute the title today in Class A of the Fil-Sino Basketball Asia Brewery Cup at the Bacolod Tay Tung High School Covered Court.

MSW Bleachers advanced to the finals after defeating top seed Japs Sportswear-Asahi, 79-73, while Silver Graces Construction upset No. 1 Singcang Destroyers –Tiger, 105-96, in the semi-finals.

Silver Graces led at the half, 54-37, as Arazo and Geolingo scored 13 points apiece. Singcang’s Jan Nermal dropped 15 points And Alvin Jamora scored 11 points.

The duo of Nermal and Jamora combined for 25 points to cut the deficit to 83-72 going to the fourth quarter. ErollDoromal scored 10 points and Julita added 5 to hold the fort for Silver Graces.

Singcang continued to rely on the tandem, but could not gain much headway as Silver Graces countered with Doromal and Arazo to hold on to the lead to seal a seat in the finals.

Doromal paced Silver Graces with 24 points while Geolingo added 18, Joebert Julita tallied 13 and Tata Javillo contributed 12 points

Nermal finished with 36 points, Jamora shot 27, Solano and Rocky Acuyong with 8 apiece and, Jago with 6 points.

Meanwhile, Japs Sportswear paid dearly for a sloppy start against MSW Bleachers as they were forced to play catchup in the final minutes.

Mark De La Cruz and Robbie Jalandoon combined for 16 points to take a 29-19 opening quarter lead for MSW Bleachers

The lead stretched to 50-35 at the break behind a balanced offense while Japs relied on JesmarIwarata, who scored 8 points.

Diaz delivered 7 points to slightly cut the deficit to 67-55 by the end of the third canto.

Diaz and Carlo De La Torre combined to rally Japs to cut the lead to 74-73, but it was the last stand for Japs as Jalandoon knocked down a triple while De La Cruz and Jojo Gabayoyo converted their free throws to knock out Japs.

Jalandoon finished with 21 points while De La Cruz added 18, Carlo Chu made 9 points and JR Salga had 7 points.

Diaz paced Japs with 21 points, De La Torre added 11, Jesmar Iwarata made 10 points and Cedrick Debide produced 9 points.*
