Kabankalan alarm up
vs. suspected measles



The Kabankalan City government is stepping up its measles vaccination drive as a preventive measure following reports that three of its residents are suspected to have been hit by the highly infectious and sometimes deadly disease.

Kabankalan Mayor Isidro Zayco said yesterday that, as a preventive measure, a massive measles vaccination campaign will be conducted in areas where suspected measles patients come from, and in Kabankalan barangays at the border of Mabinay, Negros Oriental.

The Kabankalan border barangays are Inapoy, Carol-an, and Tagukon, Zayco said, adding that residents of those areas have been advised not to go to Mabinay.moremoremore

Two women’s groups and allied progressive organizations in Negros Occidental staged dance protests to mark International Women’s Day while slamming Charter Change and the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion law in Bacolod City, yesterday.

About a thousand protesters under Gabriela-Negros and other progressive groups marched from the Provincial Capitol Lagoon to the Bacolod City Public Plaza, where they stage a rally.

The rally participants said that the TRAIN law which is now taking place under the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte should be scrapped as it has only worsened their already burdened life.moremoremore

La Castellana joins tourism
trade exhibition in Germany

The province of Negros Occidental and the municipality of La Castellana are co-exhibitors representing the Philippines in the Internationale Tourismus Borse (ITB) that is ongoing in Berlin, Germany until March 11, a Capitol press release said.

The event, that opened Wednesday, is participated in by 10,000 exhibitors from 180 countries in the world, where most of the exhibitors are travel agencies, tour operators, booking system developers, airlines, hotels, and other tourism business services around the world.

The municipality of La Castellana, led by Mayor Rhumyla Mangilimutan, is the only exhibitor representing a local government unit, and was invited through the Tourism Promotions Board, in collaboration with the Philippine Department of Tourism Frankfurt Office, the press release said.
