Index crimes drop
by 64% in Neg. Occ.

Crimes against persons and properties, or index crimes, dropped by 64 percent in the past two months of 2018, compared to the same period last year.

Police Inspector Charmae De Paz, spokesperson of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, yesterday reported that index crimes from the period of January to February this year, recorded 366, compared to 551 last year, with a reduction of 185 incidents.

Non index crimes, that refers to the implementation of special laws and ordinances, such as campaign against illegal drugs, possession of firearms and illegal gambling, also dropped by 71.39 percent.

It went down from 826 last year to 237 this year, according to De Paz.

She attributed this to the massive campaign against criminality through the Enhanced Managing Police Operation of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office.*GPB
