Tiger Beer books semis spot
in Fil-Sino Asia Brewery Cup

Singcang-Tiger Beer downed Rain or Shine–Manila Beer, 81,73, to advance to the semi-finals in Class A division of the Asia Brewery Cup 2018 Monday night at the Bacolod Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gym.

RoS was ahead at halftime with Jerald Abrot, Alvin Buñol, and JR Fernandez leading the way but Singcang struck back in the second half.

Arjie Gicana, Jan Nermal, and Alvin Jamora, who combined for 31 points, sealed the win for Singcang with Gicana finishing with 21 points while Nermal and Jamora scored 15 and 14 points, respectively.

Abrot paced RoS with 14 while Darwyn Sadie scored 12, Buñol finished with 11, and Fernandez with 10 points.

In the second game, Shakey’s-Cobra Plus Smart edged Japs Sportswear-Asahi, 100-97, to force a rubber match for the last semi-final berth.

Shakey’s vaunted full court pressure proved too much to handle for Japs as they found themselves trailing 80-64 at the end of the third quarter.

But it was Shakey’s turn to melt down in the fourth quarter as Jesmar Iwarata found his range and exploded for 19 points to lead Japs’ comeback.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to overhaul the lead built by Shakey’s, who recovered just in time to survive Japs’ fourth quarter barrage.

Shakey’s was led by Harvey Eslawa with 20 points while Marfel Gaitan scored 16, Montalvo and Jd Javelosa chipped in 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Iwarata led all scorers with 24 points as Cedrick Debide tallied 16 and Elvin Diaz with 12 points for Japs.*
