5 injured in stabbing

Five persons were injured in two stabbing incidents yesterday in Cauayan and Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, with one of the suspects immediately arrested by the police.

Injured were Jessie Nacion, 49, and his son, Kim,20; Romeo Atido, 25; and Aldrin Montabo, 30, all residents of Sitio Si-alay, Brgy, Bulata, Cauayan.

The suspect in the stabbing spree, identified as Mike Guima-a, 28, of Brgy. Gil Montilla, Sipalay City, was arrested by the police.

Investigations of the Cauayan police showed that Guima-an and his group were involved in a commotion during a fiesta in the barangay.

The suspect was brought outside by barangay officials but, a commotion again ensued that led to the stabbing of Atido by the suspect.

Nacion and his son, as well as Montalbo, who tried to pacify them, were also stabbed by the suspect, police investigations showed.

All the four victims were brought to the Merceditas Montilla Memorial Hospital for treatment of their stab wounds. Atido was later transferred to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Hospital in Bacolod City.

Guima-an is now detained at the Cauayan police custodial facility.

In Brgy. Camansi,Kabankalan City, Roberto Toriaga, a driver, sustained an injury in his back, where he was stabbed allegedly by Michael Anoslay yesterday

Toriaga, 24, was stabbed by Anoslay, a laborer, during a rumble, while the barangay fiesta was being celebrated by residents in the place.

However, Anoslay was nowhere to be found, as of this writing time.*GPB
