3ID to recruit 500 soldiers

The 3rd Infantry Division has been given a quota by the Philippine Army to recruit 500 more neophyte soldiers, its spokesman, Capt. Eduardo Precioso, said yesterday.

Precioso said they are conducting a pre-screening and registration for all qualified applicants for Candidate Soldiers in Central and Western Visayas, that started March 1 and end March 15.

For Negros Occidental applicants, the pre-screening is now ongoing at Camp Major Nelson Gerona in Brgy. Minoyan, Murcia and 62IB headquarters in Brgy. Bato, Sagay City.

There is also an ongoing screening of applicants at 79IB headquarters in Camp Leon Kilat, Tanjay City, Negros Oriental.

Candidate soldiers must be natural born Filipino citizens, 18 to 25 years old, with 72 units in college, 5 feet and 6 inches tall, single of good moral character, with an AFPSAT score of at least 45, physically and mentally fit for training.

The 3ID is presently organizing the newly-created 94th Infantry Battalion, and troopers are expected to be taken from newly-recruited soldiers.*GPB
