Cops arrest suspected drug pusher
BY JUDY F. PARTLOW

Anti-narcotics operatives arrested a suspected drug pusher during a search at his residence in the outskirts of Barangay Cadawinonan in Dumaguete City.

Supt. Jonathan Pineda, Dumaguete police chief, on Tuesday identified the suspect as Jerol Bayron Romo, 32, male, married and a resident of Block 3, Lot 15 at a low-cost housing site in Cadawinonan.

Operatives of the City Drug Enforcement Unit, led by Sr. Insp. Ian Arapols and under the supervision of Supt. Pineda, swooped down on the suspect on Monday at his residence, armed with a search warrant issued by Executive Judge Gerardo Paguio Jr., dated Feb. 22, 2018.

Confiscated were 17 transparent plastic sachets of suspected "shabu" or methamphetamine hydrochloride powder/granules, improvised tooters, tin foil, and other items suspected to be drug paraphernalia, and cash of PHP5,540.00, among others.

Barangay officials and a representative from the media, as well as the suspect’s live-in partner witnessed the search.

The suspect is now detained while appropriate charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act, as amended, are being filed against him.*PNA
