9 gold medals for PKTS-KFS
in regional invitational tourney

Lucky Angelo Solidum won two gold medals as he led the Bacolod City-based karatekas from the Philippine Karatedo Traditional and Sports – Karate Fighting System (PKTS-KFS) to a dominant performance in the 1 st Mayor Mark J. Golez Regional Invitational Karatedo Champions at the Silay City Civic Center, Sunday.

Solidum, a grade school student from Jack & Jill School, topped the novice and intermediate kata for 10 to 12 years old, while his teammate Baron Medina earned the gold medal in 7-9 years old intermediate kata.

Francis Zohann Kalaw of Bacolod Tay Tung High School won the gold in 7-9 years old novice kata while Klein Rhee Sioson of St. Scholastica’s Academy was gold medalist in boys’ cadet intermediate. Sioson also had a silver medal in advance kata.

The team trains under the supervision of sensei Randy Mengullo and sensei Elan Delfin.

In the girls’ competition, junior black belt and PKTS-KFS team captain Ferlie Mae Lall of University of St. La Salle-Integrated School reigned in the cadet intermediate kata as Paulaine Miyu Kalaw of BTTHS collected another gold for the team in 7-9 years old novice kata.

Ged Shjana Eding of JJS captured the gold in 10-12 years old novice and settled for the bronze in intermediate.

Nichole Margarette Piamonte, also from JJS, completed the 9-gold medal haul of PKTS-KFS karatekas in girls’ 12-15 years old novice then finished with a silver in the intermediate category.

Finishing with a silver medal were: Karl Miguel Gonzaludo (JJS) in boys’ 10-12 years old intermediate kata and Carlo Barias (JJS) in 7-9 years old intermediate. Barias also won a bronze in novice category.

The silver medalists in the girls’ competition were” Akysha Glen Servano of Trinity Christian School in 7-9 years old novice kata; Gwyneth Li (USLS-IS) in 13-14 years old novice kata; and Shifra Medina (JJS) in 13-15 years old advance kata.

The bronze medalists for team PKTS-KFS were Friz Cam, Franz Cam, and Ethan Bulabon of Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod and JJS students Nathan Benignos, Victor Rones V, John Paul Liza and a double bronze for Claie Nevan Desiderio.*NAB
