Calatrava man kills
3 younger brothers

The killing of three minors by their elder brother Saturday in Sitio Palala, Brgy. Marcelo, Calatrava, Negros Occidental, is considered solved by the police, with the arrest of the suspect, a day after.

Chief Inspector John Joel Batusbatusan, Calatrava police chief, yesterday said the suspect he identified as John Mark Melibo, 21, was apprehended by the police, when he returned home, where he had killed his three brothers.

Batusbatusan said, Melibo who was observed to be suffering from mental illness, used a butcher's knife in killing his brothers, when their parents were not around. moremoremore

But tourist destinations remain safe

Foreign and domestic tourists need not worry about the peace and order at tourist destinations in Sipalay City, Negros Occidental, and in neighboring areas, but Commodore Loumer Bernabe, commander of the Naval Forces Central,said yesterday that they are not taking chances.

"We always consider that there is a threat, that is why we are doing our best to reach out to the coastal towns, especially those fronting Mindanao," Bernabe said.

Mayor Oscar Montilla yesterday said that the peace and order in Sipalay City, which is known for its diving sites and white sand beaches, remains stable, noting an increasing number of foreign and domestic tourists, especially during weekends. moremoremore

ANP Bulawan Awards set

The Association of Negros Producers will hold the 28th BulawanAwards, one of the events before the anticipated Negros Trade Fair in Manila, on July 23 to August 1 at Robinsons Place in Bacolod City.

This annual product-design competition of the ANP is a showcase of the ingenuity of Negrense entrepreneurs, where member-producers bring their best foot forward by way of products that reflect excellence in craftsmanship.

A statement from ANP said that, in line with the 33rd Negros Trade Fair this year, the Bulawan Awards theme will be “Sweet Talk: Sugar and Spice; Awesome and Nice”.
