NegOcc AEWs trained
for hybrid rice farming
BY MARK L. GARCIA

Negros Occidental now has about 26 inbred and hybrid rice model farms as the government continues its aggressive campaign for hybrid rice production in the province to attain 100 percent rice sufficiency this year.

Mark Lester Gamboa, Regional Local Farmer Technician (LFT) coordinator of the Department of Agriculture-Western Visayas, said this yesterday during the Training of Trainers on Hybrid Rice Technology and Financial Literacy held at the Nature’s Village Resort in Talisay City.

Gamboa said there are 10 model farms for the inbred rice variety and 16 for hybrid rice around the province since the program started in 2017.
