PDEA, PNP arrest ten,
seize P.8M in ‘shabu’

The simultaneous combined anti-drug operations of the Philippine National Police and Drug Enforcement Agency in Negros Occidental, including Bacolod City, led to the seizure of more than P800,000 worth of suspected shabu, and the arrest of an alleged Iloilo-based drug group member, and nine others.

Armed with a search warrant issued by Judge Ana Celeste Bernad, a combined police and PDEA team swooped down Saturday on the house of Sammy Aguirre and his son, Alson, at Villa Hergon in Brgy. Rizal, Silay City.

The operation led to the confiscation of about 75 grams of suspected shabu, estimated to have a market value of P510,000, a Caspian 45 caliber pistol with five magazines and seven live ammunition, P249,400 in cash, 32 spent shells of 9mm pistol, 11 cellular phones, two handcuffs, an HD camera, and a Suzuki Raider motorcycle. moremoremore


Game fowl breeder mistaken
for drug informant shot dead

A game fowl breeder, suspected to have been mistaken for a police drug informant, was shot and killed Saturday by two motorcycle-riding suspects in Brgy. Balaring, Silay City, Negros Occidental.

Supt. Noel Polines, Silay City police chief, yesterday said that the victim he identified as Bernie Silva sustained gunshot wounds in the abdomen and both legs, and died, while being treated at a private hospital in Bacolod City, Polines added.

Initial investigation of the Silay police showed that before he was shot twice by the motorcycle back rider, the victim had asked the two suspects whom they were looking for. moremoremore

Bulawan trade fair earns P1.6M

The first six days of the Bulawan Awards trade fair earned about P1.61 million in gross sales at Robinsons Place Bacolod, records showed yesterday.

The event, that kicked off activities for the annual Negros Trade Fair in Manila in September, had garnered total sales of P1,616,876, as of Saturday, since its opening on July 23.

Bulawan trade fair, an event of the Association of Negros Producers, will run until August 1, where ANP will recognize the best products in an awarding ceremony.
