Guard, fisherman facing drug raps acquitted

A Bacolod judge yesterday sentenced a Talisay City game fowl breeder to double life imprisonment for the sale and possession of shabu, while his security guard was acquitted.

Executive Judge Raymond Joseph Javier, of the Bacolod Regional Trial Court Branch 52, found game fowl breeder Christopher Rosales Dedel guilty beyond reasonable doubt of the sale and possession of shabu in violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

He sentenced Dedel to two life imprisonments and to pay a fine of P1 million. moremoremore

Teachers mourn
loss of better lives

About 1,000 teachers and government employees wearing black gathered yesterday at the Fountain of Justice in Bacolod City to mourn the loss of their “chance to live better lives” under the present administration.

The march started from the Rizal Elementary School at around 3 p.m., walked around the Bacolod City Plaza and ended at the Fountain of Justice.

The pre-SONA march rally, headed by the Bacolod City Public School Teachers Federation and the Alliance of Concerned Teachers – Negros, aimed to lobby for the salary increase of teachers and government employees and the abolition of the Tax Reform Acceleration and Inclusion Law. moremoremore

SacaSun awarded top
taxpayer of San Carlos

AboitizPower subsidiary San Carlos Sun Power Inc. or SacaSun was recently recognized by the San Carlos City government as among its top taxpayers in 2017.

SacaSun was cited as the top real property taxpayer out of the 10 local business establishments under the category, while the top 10 business taxpayers were also acknowledged, a press release from the company said.

Councilor Mark Cui, chair of the Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee on Finance, Budget, and Appropriation, cited the awardees’ “exemplary attitude for their consistent performance of their civil duties”.
