Ten-wheeler hits taxi, injures driver
BY SHIELA G. GELERA

A taxi driver was injured and his vehicle damaged in what appeared to be a hit-and-run incident involving a 10-wheeler truck at Rosario-Araneta streets in Barangay 16, Bacolod City, at about 1:15 a.m. yesterday.

A copy of the closed-circuit television camera footages showed that the truck going to east of Rosario Street was over-speeding when it hit the taxi of Jeffrey Coniendo, 40, of Barangay Singcang-Airport, and fled, Police Officer 3 Glenn Montaño, traffic investigator of Station 1, said.

The taxi was travelling north of Araneta Street, he said.

Coniendo sustained scratches but he was not hospitalized, but the taxi was damaged, Montaño said.

The 10-wheeler truck was later found in Ma-ao, Bago City, and its owner, Hernan Arroz, contacted Police Station 1 after he learned about the incident, Montaño said.

He said Arroz alleged that the truck was abandoned by the driver, whose name was not disclosed, who had left and could not be contacted anymore.

Arroz pledged to settle the damages to the vehicle and other expenses due to the incident, Montaño added.*SGG
