Registrar of Deeds sacked

The Office of the Ombudsman has found Registrar of Deeds Romulo Gonzaga of Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, guilty of Grave Misconduct and Conduct Prejudicial to the Service, and ordered his dismissal from the service.

The Office of the Ombudsman, in a press statement, also said it found probable cause to charge Gonzaga before the Regional Trial Court with violation of Section 3(e) of Republic Act No. 3019 or the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act.

Based on a complaint filed by the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Regional Office No. 12, Gonzaga illegally issued a Transfer of Certificate of Title in favor of a certain Florentino Perez without the required Certificate Authorizing Registration (CAR) and Tax Clearance Certificate. moremoremore

Mayors condemn killings

The Negros Occidental Association of Chiefs Executives( ACE) and League of Municipalities in the Philippines yesterday issued a joint statement strongly condemning the murders of two mayors this week.

Negros Occidental mayors, who expressed alarm over the killings of Tanauan City Mayor Antonio Haili of Batangas and General Tinio Mayor Ferdinand Bote of Nueva Ecija, among others, also asked the Philippine National Police to protect them from violence.

Victorias City Mayor Francis Frederick Palanca, who chaired the Negros ACE, said they are putting the responsibility on the PNP to solve the crimes, whether those slain local government officials are involved in narco-politics, or not. moremoremore

NEDA calls on LGUs to boost
socio-economic potentials

Regional director Ro-ann Bacal of the National Economic and Development Authority 6 yesterday said local governments need to boost their socio-economic potentials by harnessing the support of development partners from the private sector.

Bacal spoke at a 2017-2022 Western Visayas Regional Development Plan Roadshow, held at the provincial Capitol in Bacolod City yesterday.

Executive Order No. 5, series of 2016, adopted “Ambisyon Natin 2040” as a long term vision for the country. This will be manifested by an empowered people and a progressive economy, roadshow participants were told.
