Matrix holds up fare
hike in Region 6
BY CARLA P. GOMEZ

Negros Occidental transport groups yesterday called for the speedy release of the new matrixes so that they can begin implementing the recently granted fare rate hike to cushion the effect of rising fuel prices.

Major and independent oil companies yesterday increased the price of unleaded gasoline by P0.65/liter, diesel by P0.55/liter, and kerosene by P0.70/liter

T he Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board late last month approved a P2.50 fare increase for jeepneys in Western Visayas. The increase means passengers will have to pay P9 from P6.50 for the first five kilometers, while students, seniors, and persons with disabilities (PWDs) will pay P7.50 from P5. moremoremore

MICECON deferred to Nov. 27-29
BY CHRYSEE G. SAMILLANO

The date for the 2018 MICE (Meetings, Incentive Travel, Conventions & Exhibitions) Conference, or MICECON, to be held at the SMX Convention Center in Bacolod City, has been reset to November 27-29, Bacolod Councilor Em Ang said.

Ang, chairman of the Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee on Tourism, said the MICECON earlier scheduled in August, was postponed due to the resignation of Cesar Montano as Tourism Promotions Board chief operating officer, and because the Tourism Secretary is new.

She said Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat wants all programs that are already in the pipeline checked, and these include the MICECON. She also wants the budget for the event reviewed.
