If federal shift ok’d: ConCom

The Negrosanon Federated Region will have full control of an estimated P60 to P65 billion annually, under a federal form of government, on top of other taxes to be collected locally, Consultative Committee spokesman Conrado Generoso said yesterday.

He pointed out that the ConCom created by President Rodrigo Duterte to review the 1987 Constitution is proposing that federated regions be given a share of not less than 50 percent of all the collected taxes on income, excise, VAT, and customs duties, which will be equally divided among them and automatically released .

The other 50 percent will go to the federal government.

The initial estimated amount of P60 to 65 billion per region is based on 2017 data on the country’s revenue collections, Generoso said. moremoremore
