Airport emergency
response tackled

Government and Non- Government Organizations are ready to respond to incidents and emergencies that may take place at the Bacolod-Silay Airport.

This was after the recent Bacolod-Silay Airport tabletop exercise held at the PMO Conference Hall of the airport that was attended by more than 50 participants from various government and private agencies, a press release from the Philippine Information Agency said.

The exercise simulated an airline emergency landing where participants grouped themselves according to their roles, such as airport police/ military/ security, services; airline operator, airport crush, fire, rescue services; air traffic services; public information officer/ information management and medical officer/ hospitals.

Airport Manager Martin Terre said the goal of responding to incidents and emergencies is saving lives and properties.

"In the case of airport operation emergencies, cooperation among various agencies and stakeholders is vital to carry through with the objective of saving lives and properties."

He said aerodrome or airport safety is still foremost in the aviation industry andthat is best achieved through the unified and collaborative efforts of stakeholders.

He also said there will be more collaboration with the group to complete the series of emergency operations preparedness for the Bacolod-Silay Airport.

Meanwhile, Alex Balde, Chief Aerodrome and Air Navigation Safety and Oversight Office of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines lauded the group for its cooperation in conducting the exercise as well as CAAP Bacolod for spearheading the activity.*
