Cops seize guns, explosives

Operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, assisted by the police, yesterday recovered assorted guns, ammunition and an explosive during a raid in Brgy. Magballo, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.

Armed with a search warrant issued by Judge Jose Manuela Lopez, joint operatives of CIDG- Bacolod and Negros Occidental, assisted by the Provincial Mobile Force Company troopers and local policemen, swooped down on the house of Rommel Villarosa in the place.

The raid yielded two .45 caliber pistols, two magazines containing 45 live ammunition, a 12 gauge shotgun with 19 ammunition, a fragmentation grenade and seven fired catridges, the police said.

The raiding team also arrested Villarosa, 46, and Romnick Villarosa.

An Ithaca 9mm caliber pistol with a magazine containing six live ammunition and an Armscor .38 caliber were also recovered by the raiding team inside the compound, police records also showed.

The 9mm pistol was recovered from Romick, the police added.

On Sunday, policemen arrested a certain Ruel Repolidon at a checkpoint in Brgy. 9, Kabankalan City, for illegal possession of firearms.

A .45 caliber Kimber pistol, and two magazines containing 13 live ammunition were recovered from Repolidon, a resident of Brgy. Salong, Kabankalan City,who is now in jail.*GPB
