Pa kills daughter's
BF to ‘protect her future'

A 67-year-old father used all six bullets of his revolver to kill the boyfriend of his daughter at Villa Lina Subdivision in Barangay Vista Alegre, Bacolod City, at about 12:45 p.m. Monday, the police said.

Eduardo Diego, of Barangay Taculing in Bacolod, told the police that he did not regret what he had done, as it is better to sacrifice his life in prison since he is already old, than to see the future of his daughter destroyed.

The victim, Bernie Castidad, 31, also of Barangay Taculing, succumbed to two gunshot wounds on his head, two on his face, and two on his back, Senior Insp. RamelSarona, Police Station 7 chief, said yesterday.

Diego did not want his daughter, whose name was not disclosed, to have a relationship with Castidad, whom he claimed to already havea family and only wanted money from her.

Sarona said that the daughter of Diego had returned from United States, andCastidad courted her, but the suspect was against him.

Investigation showed that Castidad, who worked as a call center agent, and Diego both arrived at the house of his daughter in Barangay Vista Alegre, Monday morning, Sarona said.

Diego then went home to Barangay Taculing, got his gun, returned to Barangay Vista Alegre, and shot Castidad. The suspect even fired the gun at his daughter but it had no more bullets, Sarona said.

The police recovered a .38 caliber revolver and empty shells from the crime scene.

Murder and illegal possession of firearm charges have alreadybeen filed against Diego, before the Bacolod City Prosecutor's Office yesterday, Sarona added.

Diego is now detained at the custodial facility of Station 7.*SGG
