Ceres aims for biggest upset
in AFC Champions League

At 3:30 p.m. today, Ceres-Negros will play the biggest match in the club's 6-year-old history when The Busmen play against Tianjin Quanjian in the playoffs of the AFC Champions League in the Tianjin Olympic Center Stadium in China.

Arriving in Tianjin early this morning after 8-9 hours of travel from the Philippines, the Filipino side will have to battle through jetlag and freezing weather condition.

It may not be an ideal condition for everyone but the team is ready to give their best, club administrator Nicolas Golez who was unfazed by the visa problem the squad encountered earlier, said.

PH second in
Asian polo tourney

The Philippine polo team captured a second place finish in the All Asia Cup at the VR Sports Club in Bangkok.

The Philippine squad, composed of Mikee Romero, Anthony, Adrian, and Ricardo Garcia, got its breakthrough finish after making the final for the first time ever on Saturday night.

Its Cinderella run, however, ended up short of a "happily-ever-after" finish after Thailand showed its championship pedigree in the final.

GlobalPort ready
for next challenge

After torching Meralco on Sunday, GlobalPort coach Pido Jarencio declared that the Batang Pier are now ready for the second phase of the PBA Philippine Cup even without the injured Terrence Romeo.

"We are ready with or without Terrence. We will make some adjustment if he is going there but even without him, this team is ready," said Jarencio who praised his second stringer for surpassing the intensity of his starters.

The second stringers composed of Yousef Taha, Joseph Gabayni, Nicholas Elorde, Michael Juicio and Jonathan Grey were responsible for erecting an insurmountable 29 points lead in the third quarter. Grey top scored for GlobalPort with 24 points, five rebounds and two assists.
