The driver of a van, who allegedly shot and killed a seaman in a road rage incident Thursday in Cauayan, Negros Occidental, has already been identified by the police, through two witnesses, Chief Inspector Gary Alan Resuma, town police chief, disclosed yesterday.
Resuma said the identification of the suspect who gunned down Jopeth Alic, 35, was made, after his picture was shown to the two witnesses, onea minor.
Investigation of the Cauayan police showed that Alic and the driver of the van, who was the plying the Hinobaan-Bacolod route, figured in a heated altercation, before the shooting incident, along the highway of Brgy. Inayawan, Cauayan.
Resuma said the shooting was witnessed by his 4-year-old son.
Three empty shells of a.45 caliber pistol were recovered at the scene of incident by the Cauayan police.
As soon as they can establish the full name of the suspected gunman, Resuma said they will file charges against him.
Meanwhile, a 60-year-old man also died, while two minors were injured, after the motorcycle they were riding figured in an accident Saturday in Hacienda Nalipay, Brgy. 5, Isabela, Negros Occidental.
Leonilo Toriales, 60, was declared dead on arrival at the Isabela District Hospital, while his two back riders, 15 and 10 years old, survived, the Isabela police said.
Police Investigations showed that Toriales hit a backhoe, a heavy equipment, while negotiating a curved lane in the highway.
The two minors were brought to a hospital in Bacolod City, for further treatment of their injuries.*GPB
