High school student killed,
drug user injured in strafing

A high school student died, while an alleged drug user, who surrendered to the Oplan Tokhang campaign of the police, was injured in a strafing incident Friday night in Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental, the police reported yesterday.

Elnica Arroz, 18, who succumbed to head injuries, was declared dead on arrival at the Elumba Medical Clinic in La Castellana. Her employer, Rene Saludares, was also injured, the police said.

Cops seize P.5
million in ‘shabu'

At least PHP.5 million worth of suspected shabu was seized in a series of buy-bust operations in Bacolod City, Friday to yesterday.

Members of the City Drug Enforcement Unit nabbed a High Value Target and her companion in Barangay Villamonte, Bacolod City, at about 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Karla Umadhay, 24, the subject of the operation, and Romeo Gumban, 44, were apprehended for allegedly selling suspected shabu, a police report said. .moremoremore

World food
expo in Bacolod

The Wofex World Food Expo will launch its 18th year with a regional show in Bacolod City on February 8-10 at the SMX Convention Center, a press release from organizers said.

Wofex Bacolod will be on its second run, the first being in 2016, and will bring together all segments of the food and beverage industry in and out of the city, not only through its exhibition but also through Wofex University that offers advanced learning from the best speakers in the industry.

The show participant could increase his or her network of suppliers as both established and new players in the F&B industry are exhibiting their products and services during the expo; learn from the different seminars and demos conducted by industry professionals; and enjoy discounts and special promos offered by suppliers only during the expo, the press release said.
