Thank God marriage to
Koko is over: Jewel
BY CARLA GOMEZ

“Our annulment has finally been granted, thank God.”

That was the reaction of Jewel May Colmenares Lobaton, 1998 Bb. Pilipinas-Universe and Miss MassKara Queen 1993, yesterday to the news that her marriage to Senate President Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel IIIwas annulled this week.

Lobaton, 41, told the DAILY STAR in a phone interview that she is very happy and excited that her marriage to Pimentelis finally over.

“I am officially single again,” the Bacoleña said in reaction to reports the Marikina Regional Trial Court granted the annulment of her marriage to Pimentel in 2000, this week.

Lobaton studied at St. Joseph's School La Salle, and the University of Saint La Salle in Bacolod, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biology degree.

On Tuesday shealso graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Theology from Kairos International Academy in Singapore, Lobaton said.

Lobaton, who has been living apart from Pimentel since 2011, said she sought the annulment in 2013.

But before the 2013 elections she came to the defense of Pimentel and denied the statement of Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri on national television that Pimentel had hit her.

Lobaton said she withdrew her move to annul the marriage in 2013 on the possibility that she and Pimentel would get back together,as they had started dating.

However, after the 2013 elections, Pimentel did not honor his word, she said, “But that's okay, it was a revelation that it was a match not worth fighting for.”

“That was my last hope for the marriage to work. I prayed to God, I just wanted to move on,” she added.

Last year, Pimentel filed for an annulment and she did not put up a fight, as they both wanted the marriage to end with finality.

“I wanted out already,” she said.

Lobaton said she is hoping that with the finality of the annulment, Pimentel will let her see their two sons again.

“Hehas kept the children away from me for three years, defying the orders of the court,” she said.

As the mother of the children she has a right to see their children but has kept quiet, as she does not want to fight about it, Lobaton said.

“I am managing my businesses. Living quietly and happily,” she added.

But as Senate president,Pimentel should follow the law, and allow her to see their children, she said.

Pimentel, 55, is reportedly in a relationship with Kathryna Yu , 35.

“I'm happy that my children have two mamas who love them.Mama Jewel and Mama Kathy,” Lobaton said.

“This is a gift, with love it is possible. That is my stand…God is good,” she said.

Pimentel could not be reached for comment.*CPG
