La Salle – Zobel U18 spikers win Manila-Negros volleyball crown

De La Salle – Zobel girls' volleyball team beat Living Stones International School in four sets, 25-14, 25-12, 22-25 and 25-16, to capture the title in the 1st Manila Negros 18 under Volleyball Invitational Championship held Jan. 17-20 at the Msgr. John liu Activity Center at St. John's Institute in Bacolod City.

In the battle for third place, Talisay City prevailed over host team St John's Institute in a thrilling 5- setter, 25-14,22-25,23-25,25-8, and 19-17.

The Cristina Salak mentored DLSZ topped the single round elimination with six wins while runner-up LSIS, Talisay Selection and SJI finished with an identical 4-2 card. LSIS advanced to the finals against DLSZ due to a better quotient.

NOHS Inter-Class bowlfest finals slated today at NSL

The top five teams in the three divisions of the Negros Occidental High School Alumni Inter-class Bowling Tournament will vie for the title today in the final round of the competition hosted by Class'93 at the Negros Super Lanes in Bacolod City.

Clashing for the coveted crown in the premiere division are Batch '94, Batch '97, Class '66, Class '85 and Batch '90.

Batch '94 has the twice-to- beat advantage after topping the elimination phase, while Batch '90 and Class '85 will go up against each other in the first game of the up-the-ladder system.

Summit cagers survive Nestea, 76-74, to claim 2nd win in Fil-Sino basketball

Summit notched its second victory as they slipped past Nestea ,76-74, in Class B action of the Fil-Sino Asia Brewery Cup Wednesday night at Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gym in Bacolod City.

Jeffrey Espuerta‘s desperation attempt with .6 second left got him a foul and he knocked down the free throws to break the deadlock and claim victory for Summit.

Playing catch up throughout the game, Nestea faced 60-48 deficit going to the fourth quarter.
