Summit needed an extra time to beat Vitamilk, 88-78, while Absolute routed Barista, 91-69, in the Class B division of the Fil-Sino Asia Brewery Cup Basketball Tournament at theTay Tung High School Po Hang Gym in Bacolod City.
Up by 5 points going into the fourth quarter at 60-55, Summit found themselves in trouble as Richard Co and RinenMiag-ao of Vitamilkcombined for 13 points to tie the score at 74-all and force an overtime.
Summit regained their composure in the extra time while Vitamilk sputtered and came up with a measly 4-point production allowing Summit to get away wit the win.
Jeffrey Espuerta topscored for Summit with 20 points, 7 of them in the overtime while Dandan Ong and Michael Ang scored 14 points each, Jappy Cuaycong hit 12 and Mark Lo finished the game with 10 points.
Richard Co paced Vitamilk with 22 points, Marc Jalapa added 14, Miag-ao tallied 11, and RJ Iligan and Alexis Somo contributed 8 points each.
In the other game, Absolute outplayed Barita, 32-8, in the third quarter for a complete turnaround in the second half after a close 42-39 halftime scoreline favoring Absolute.
Daven Dreyfus anchored the third quarter breakaway as he scored 12 points while Jan Jan Lopue added 7 markers.
Dreyfus finished with 21 points to lead Summit while Archie Bayquin shot 11, Livingstone Ang had 10, Mar Macainan with 9 points and Ramon Khey, 8 points.
Barista was spearheaded by Justin Kilayko with 19 points, Onjo Yap made 11, Joel Masadia shot 10 points.
Joining Absolute and Summit in the win column are Cobra and Nestea, after both teams prevailed over separate opponents.
Cobra downed Coco Fresh, 85-68, after posting a 51-28 advantage at halftime.
Coco Fresh tried to bounce back in the second half but the margin proved to be too big for them to overhaul.
Ton Ton Chua paced a balanced Cobra offensive with 12 points while Buddy Eufre shot 11 and Brix Arrobang drilled 10 points.
Ralph Ong led Coco Fresh with 14 points as Rodolfo Sabio and Luiginio Lacson added 11 points each.
Meanwhile, Lito Dumdum scored 13 points to lead Sunkist past Nestea, 63-54.*
