Singcang rips Villamonte
in Fil-Sino caging

Tiger-Singcang Destroyer stopped Heineken-Villamonte Blitz, 95-87, to kick off a triplebill for the Class A division of the Fil-Sino Asia Brewery Cup basketball tournament played Sunday night at the Bacolod Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gym.

Colt 45-FyrFyter/Dobinsons defeated Cobra Citrus-Super Twins, 86-73, and Asahi-Japs Sportswear dominated Cobra Berry-Mexicali, 99-82.

Alvin Jamora paced Singcang with 33 points as the team scored an opening day victory with Arjie Gicana adding 18 points, Lowie Badilles with 11 markers, and Rocky Acuyong and JR Solano contributing 9 points each. Jerome Distrito chipped in 5 points.

Donald Quilantang, JornelLaborte and Louie Compao delivered 15 points apiece for Villamonte Blitz as Botsoy Solinap made 12, Coleen Testa shot 9, Job Nombreda with 6 points and Bonbon Cadagat, 4 points.

Singcang took a 50-43 lead at halftime due to the efforts of Jamora, who delivered 18 points and Gicana's 8 markers even as Quilantang fired 13 for Villamonte.

In the third quarter, Laborte led a balanced offense to cut the deficit to 67-64, but the trio of Gicana, Jamora and Ermeo combined for 21 points to seal the opening day victory for the Destroyer.

In the second game, RollyJaca paced FyrFyter/Dobinsons with 24 points with 6 coming from the 3-point area, while Sonny Abaring drilled 18 points, Winnie Alvarez shot 10, Richard Dario and Jed Soriano hit 7 points each, Jehu Ayagan and Ruel Balgos with 6 points apiece.

Cobra Citrus-Super Twins was led by Musni with 14 points, De La Peña and Bayhon sunk 12, Magbanua added 10 and Barcellote had 9 points.

In the nightcap, Japs Sportswear drubbed Mexicali in the first three quarters highlighted by 44 points in the second canto.

Elvin Diaz finished with 22 points, 19 of them in the second quarter, backstopped by Glen Dormido with 16 points, Reno Villaflorida hit 10, Warlito Alintano , Jesmar Iwarata and Justine Baldonado delivered 7 points each, and Debide with 6 points.

Ryan Agena , Jefter Gigje and Joemel Garrido's gallant stand for Mexicali netted them 13 points each while Rofel Cabalo and Boyet Ronzales scored 10 points apiece.

Class A games are played from Thursday to Saturday while Monday to Wednesday are for Class B games.*
