PNP probes
disposal of licenses

The Bacolod City Traffic Authority Office is investigating the disposal of 30 drivers' licenses at the Bacolod City Police Office compound at Magsaysay Avenue in Bacolod City, Saturday.

Supt. Luisito Acebuche, BTAO head, said yesterday that a policeman he only identified as PO3 Ordaniel found the drivers' licenses scattered in a trash bin.

Ordaniel gathered the licenses and turned them over to the BTAO Monday.

Acebuche said they are now investigating who threw the licenses.

The licenses, some of which were expired and some still active, seemed to have been intentionally thrown recently as they were not dilapidated, Acebuche said.

One of the owners of the driver's license who was traced, disclosed that it was a police officer from Station 2 who confiscated it but they are still conductinga further probe, Acebuche said.

Driver's licenses are government property and should not be thrown. The one who confiscates the licenses should make a transmittal and return these to the Land Transportation Office, Acebuche said.

They are tapping the help of lawyers on the legal aspect of the matter and on the filing of a case against the culprit/s, he added.*SGG
