12th IB has new chief

Lt. Col. Roderick Garcia, who was recently relieved as 79th Infantry Battalion commander in Negros Occidental, is now occupying a similar position.

Garcia replaced Lt. Col. Vener Morga as commander of the 12th Infantry (CAFGU) Battalion on Jan. 22 in a ceremony presided over by Brig. Gen. Francisco Delfin, Assistant Division Commander of 3ID,in Banga, Aklan.

As 12IB commander, Garcia supervises CAFGU units deployed in Western and Central Visayas.

The 79IB, that used to be commanded by Garcia, is now headed by Lt. Col. Emelito Thaddeus Logan.

During his stint as 12IB commander, Morga was able to generate the support of local government units in Negros, Panay and Bohol, in terms of rice and canned goods subsidy, as well as radio communication.

CAFGU members served as the first line of defense of the Armed Forces of the Philippines in the hinterlands, against attacks from the New People's Army. * GPB
