Ceres faces Chinese
team in ACL play-offs

Ceres-Negros FC beat Brisbane Roar, 3-2, last night in the second round of the AFC Champions League preliminaries to secure a ticket to the Playoffs against Tianjin Quanjian of the Chinese Super League.

BienvenidoMarañon, who scored twice for Ceres, said he is happy for the team as they have been doing good in the past year.

“This club has been amazing. We've been doing good it seems it's not possible to do anything better. We're all very happy,” Marañon said in an interview after the match.

Ceres' third goal came from OmidNazari, who scored with 15 minutes left in the game.

For Ceres' new member Sean Kane, they won against all odds and it is a big statement for Filipino football.

“The team is in high spirits. We beat an A-League side. We all worked for each other and followed the game plan that was given to us,” Kane said in a message sent to the DAILY STAR.

To get into the group stage of the Champions League, The Busmen need to tame Chinese Super League squad, Tianjin Quanjian.

Founded in 2006, CSL squad finished third last year in the league under the guidance of Italian World Cup winner Fabio Cannavaro, who was later replaced by Portuguese footballer Paulo Sousa.

Against the Brisbane Roar last night, Ceres head coach RistoVidakovic started with goalkeeper Toni Doblas, Junior Muñoz, Jeffrey Christiaens, Kevin Ingreso, Carlide Murga, Manuel Herrera, Nazari, Stephan Schröck, Marañon, Mike Ott, and OJ Porteria.*NAB
