Duran heads NPC again

Broadcaster Renato “Boy” Duran of DYEZ AksyonRadyo was re-elected president of the Negros Press Club for 2018 to 2019 during its general assembly and election of officers Saturday at the Negros Press Club building in Bacolod City.

Duran is the first to serve as president of the NPC, which is the oldest press club in the country, for two consecutive years.

Elected vicepresident was Erwin Nicavera of Sunstar Bacolod, Dolly Yasa of Daily Guardian - secretary, GlazylMasculinoof Sunstar Bacolod - treasurer, and Elsie Jolingan of Negros Daily Bulletin - auditor.

Duran, Nicavera and Masculino ran unopposed, while Yasawon against RanieAzue by five votes.

Yasa garnered 34 votes while Azue got 29 votes, Both were past presidents of NPC.

Jolingan, also a past president of NPC,won againstRoxEstrella of DYRL by 11 votes. Shegot 34 votes while Estrella got 23.

Members of the board of directors were topped by ChryseeSamillano of the Visayan DAILY STAR who got 47 votes, Edgar Lucasan (DYRL) – 46, JermloVictosa (RMN DYHB) – 40, Aquilino“Boy”Ciocon (DYAF Radio Veritas) - 40, MerlindaPedrosa (Sunstar Bacolod) - 38, Owen Bayog (Negros Daily Bulletin) – 38, Eric Magbanua (DYEZ AksyonRadyo) - 38, HernanGarciniego (Visayan DAILY STAR) – 37, and Martian Muyco(ABS CBN) -35.

Out of the 72 members who registered, only 68 were able to cast their vote.
