The power rates for January of both the Central Negros Electric Cooperative and Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative are up, while those of the Northern Negros Electric Cooperative dropped.
The CENECO residential rate for January 2018 is PHP10.8746/kWh, an increase of PHP0.8428/kWh from last month's PHP10.0318/kWh, its general manager Sulpicio Lagarde Jr. said.
He attributed the hike in CENECO's rate to the increase in purchase cost and charges in generation, transmission, and system loss atPHP 0.6016, PHP 0.0315, and PHP 0.0855, respectively, Lagarde said.
Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative in the south also announced on its website that the overall electricity rate of its residential customers for January is PHP 9.1974 per kWh, an increase of PHP 0.5322 per kWh from the previous month's rate of PHP 8.6652 per kWh.
Danny Pondevilla, NONECO general manager, said the power rate in the north is down by PHP 0.4376 because of low Wholesale Electricity Spot Market rates.
NONECO purchased power from WESM, because KEPCO conducted maintenance work at its plant, and force majeure, was declared at Green Core Geothermal Inc., he said.*CPG
