Inspector Charmae De Paz, Public Information Officer of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, said yesterday that the surrender of guns and explosives was a result of the house-to-house visitation and information campaign, in relation to the implementation of Oplan Katok, by Chief Inspector Antonio Benitez in Himamaylan City.
The surrendered explosives and guns, included eight homemade shotguns, calibers .22 and .38 revolvers, two rifle grenades, a rocket parachute flare, a rifle propelled star flare, 81 live ammunition of caliber 30 Garand rifle, 12 gauge shotgun and M16 assault rifle, with its plastic magazine.
Senaior Supt. Rodolfo Castil, provincial police director of Negros Occidental, lauded the owners of the guns and explosives for the surrender of the items to the Himamaylan City police.
A 9mm caliber Armscor pistol with a magazine containing six ammunition was endorsed to the police by barangay chairman Jerry Vargas also on Monday in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.
