Victolero admits copying
Guia's style to beat NLEX

Victolero admits copying Guiao

Teams led by coach Yeng Guiao usually win the bench scoring department in games. However, against the Magnolia Hotshots the other night, the NLEX Road Warriors got the raw end of the deal as they were outscored 54 to 41.

This was not a surprise to Magnolia head coach Chito Victolero as he's borrowing a page from Guiao's book on maximizing all the players. Victolero played all 14 guys on his active roster with only one guy in Marc Pingris getting more than 30 minutes. NLEX, on the other end, had to stretch the minutes of Kiefer Ravena, Michael Miranda, and JR Quinahan in the game.

"We are doing now a fast-paced system. We want a fast ball movement to engage the defense, " said Victolero after they scored a 105-94 victory, Sunday night at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

Throughout the game, the Road Warriors tried mounting runs to get back. However, the Hotshots always had an answer with different players stepping up in different times. In the third quarter it was Paul Lee. In the fourth, Jio Jalalon and Rome Dela Rosa scored 7 points each to quell the rallies of NLEX.

Victolero did not hide the fact that he's borrowing a page from Guiao's playbook.

"Coach Yeng Guiao is my idol, that's why may I got some ideas from his style, the Magnolia head coach said adding that his players have been responding well to the new system.*pba. com
