Ceres to do their best
despite lack of training

Ceres to do their best

At 5:30 this afternoon Ceres-Negros will attempt to set another milestone in Philippine Football when they face Shan United of Myanmar in the first preliminary round of the AFC Champions League at the Thuwanna Stadium in Yangon, Myanmar.

In a press conference in Bacolod City last week, Ceres-Negros head coach Risto Vidakovic said they did not have enough time to prepare but he believes in his players and they are ready to give their best.

Vidokovic reiterated this in yesterday's pre-match press conference in Myanmar, saying, “We're just in the pre-season and maybe have three training sessions. We are not prepared but we will try our best.”

Ceres midfielder Stephan Schrock, who joined Vidakovic in the press conference, echoed the sentiment but added “mentally we were preparing for a long time for this game already.”

“I think we will give you a good quality performance even though we've just been training for one week,” Schrock said.

The club started training Jan. 10 in Bacolod and have maintained their form in the short break after the PFL final, a report from the club's website said.

If the Bacolod City-based squad beat Shan United, they will advance to the next round against the Brisbane Roar. A win against the Australian team will give qualify them to the final match of the preliminary round against Tianjin Quanjian of China for a slot in the group stage of the competition.*
