Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia yesterday said they are ready to answer any complaint filed against the Bacolod City Government Employees Union involving the three-day BCGEU Year-End Assessment Activity 2017 from Dec. 27 to 29, 2017, when it comes, and if it will ever be entertained by the court.
Leonardia said it was not a Christmas party at all, but a year-end assessment, which they have been doing for years.
Based on information he received, the previous administration spent about P5.6 million for the year-end activity and that was only for one day, he said.
Eight million for three days is even cheaper than P5.6 million for just one day, he added.
Leonardia said that one thing's for sure, the one they held went to the benefit of all employees.
Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran said this went through the process and the amount will be liquidated by the BCGEU.
The Bacolod SangguniangPanlungsod approved a resolution enjoining the BCGEU to submit to the SP a detailed report on the financial assistance extended, outcome and the accomplishment of its year-end assessment activity, authored by Councilor Wilson Gamboa Jr.
Councilor EmAng proposed to have the resolution amendedasking the BCGEU to furnish them a copy of the liquidation report it is required to submit to the Commission on Audit, so it will not appear that they are encroaching on the functions of the Commission.
After receiving a copy of the report, and if they find anything questionable in it, she believes that would be the proper time to take action on the matter, Ang said.
Gamboa said they are not duplicating the function of the COA but they should be provided a copy of the report for them to be guided accordingly. They are also members of the BCGEU and he finds no malice in requesting to be provided a copy of the report.
Councilor Ricardo Tan requested for a breakdown of the expenditures to be provided the SP.
Councilor Caesar Distrito recalled that in 2014, former MayorMonicoPuentevella allotted P5.6 million for the job order casuals and employees represented by the BCGEU.*CGS
