AFC Champions League
After winning the Philippines Football League last year, the Ceres-Negros Football Club will have the chance to enter the group stage most prestigious club football tournament in Asia in the AFC Champions League.
The tournament features the best football clubs in Asia from countries like South Korea, Japan, Iran, and many others. It will be a tough challenge for the Bacolod squad when it ventures into new territory with its first game on January 16.
Coach Risto Vidakovic and company will face Myanmar champions Shan United and will travel to Yangon for the first round of qualification.
It will take the busmen three rounds to reach the group stage of the prized tournament. If Ceres Negros beats Shan United, they will travel to Australia the week after to face the Brisbane Roar. Should they beat the A League club, they will need to overcome Tiankin Quajin in China to qualify for the group stage.
The Negros club started their training camp Wednesday in Bacolod City. Returning to the squad are goalkeepers Louie Michael Casas and Eduard Sacapano.
The core of the team will return for the 2018 season, which includes the likes of Super Herrera, Martin Steuble, and OJ Porteria. New players in Sean Kane, Takumi Uesto, and Toni Toblas are the first to reinforce the squad in this season's campaign.*
