A military officer formerly assigned in central Negros, got a higher position in the Philippine Army.
Army Col. Ramil Bitong assumed the command of 803rd Infantry Brigade in Catarman, Northern Samar,yesterday.
Bitong, who used to be the commanding officer of the 11th Infantry Battalion in central Negros, replaced Brig. Gen. Mario Lacurom.
Lacurom served for two years and almost four months as 803rd Infantry Brigade commander.
As brigade commander, Bitong will supervise the three Army battalions in internal security operationsin northern Samar.
Beforethis position, Bitong served as assistant chief of staff for personnel of the Philippine Army.
Maj. Gen. Jesus Manangquil, a predecessor of Bitong as 11IB commander, was recently designated as commanding general of the 9th Infantryy Division in Bicol region.
Newly-promoted Brig. Gen. Franco Nemesio Gacal, who previousy commanded the 11IB in Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental, is now the commander of the 402nd Infantry Brigade in Mindanao.* GPB
