Guard kills cop
at beach resort

A security guard is now in jail, for the fatal shooting of a policeman Saturday at a beach resort in Hinigaran, Negros Occidental.

The victim was Police Officer 2 Britches Talapiero, 36, a member of the Bacolod City Police Office Station 5, and a resident of Brgy. Granada in Bacolod City.

The suspect, identified as Joey Belinario, is a security guard assigned at the Canonoy Beach Resort in Brgy. Miranda, Hinigaran. He is now in jail, pending the filing of murder charges against him in court.moremoremore

Moises Padilla police chief,
others face charges at OMB

Senior Inspector Allan Reloj and six other police officers assigned at the Moises Padilla Police Station in Negros Occidental, are now facing libel charges before the Ombudsman.

The filing of charges against seven policemen of Moises Padilla stemmed from the attempt to link La Castellana Councilor Alberto “ White”Nicor to the illegal drug trade in Negros Occidental.

La Castellana Mayor Rhumyla Nicor-Mangilimutan, sister of Nicor, disclosed Friday that the complaint against Reloj, who is the Moises Padilla police chief, and six other police non-commissioned officers has already been forwarded by the Ombudsman Visayas to their national office. .moremoremore

City collects P348M in advance
payment for 2018 RPT: official

The City Treasurer's Office-Land Tax Division of Bacolod City has collected an "unprecedented" P348 million in advance payment for the 2018 real property taxes (RPT), for December 2017 alone.

A report submitted by local treasury operations officer Arlene Memoria to Mayor Evelio Leonardia showed that the Land Tax Division has collected P348,062,948 in RPT from December 1-31, a press release from the city said.

The collection is P127,392,186, or 57.73 percent, higher than the collection from Dec. 1-31, 2016, which was P220,670,761. .
