Montilla passes away

Former Sipalay Mayor Soledad Chua Montilla died at about 4 p.m. yesterday after going into cardiac arrest at the Dr. Pablo O. Torre Memorial Hospital in Bacolod  City, her son,Sipalay Mayor Oscar Montilla Jr. said last night.

Montilla, who was a 4-term mayor of Sipalay City, was a dedicated, strict and hardworking public official, her son said.

She was married to farmer Oscar Montilla Sr.,who passed away in September 2017, he added.

The former mayor is survived byher son Oscar Jr. and daughters SipalayVice Mayor Gina MontillaLizares, GeorgiaOngsiapco, and GretchenGarrucho.

Two of her children, Jose Rodney and Gia, passed away ahead of her, the Sipalaymayor said.

Her body lies in state at the A cropolisGardens in Brgy. Bata in Bacolod City, near Rose Lawns Memorial Park.

She will be buried at the Rolling Hills Memorial Park in Bacolod City after a 9 a.m. mass on Wednesday, the Sipalay mayor added.*CPG
