Negrense entrepreneurs
urged to join food fair

The Department of Trade and Industry is inviting local food entrepreneurs in Negros Occidental to register and participate in the National Food Fair in March.

Mae Buaron, senior trade and industry specialist, said yesterday that all Negrense food entrepreneurs are invited to join the Sikat Pinoy National Food Fair as it will showcase processed food, edible organic/natural products, food packaging materials, labeling and food processing tools and equipment, fresh produce, and providers of label and packaging design services.

Buaron said this is open to enterprises that are Food and Drug Administration-approved, or who are still processing or applying for this certification.

The event will be held March 14-18 at SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City.

DTI's Bureau of Domestic Trade Promotion will choose 200 micro, small, and medium enterprises in this event, the agency's press release said.

The five-day fair will feature a wide array of food products and produce selected from regions and provinces of the Philippines.

Members of trade associations and retail and wholesale institutional buyers seeking subcontractors and suppliers of intermediate and finished products are also expected to attend and visit the trade fair.

Sikat Pinoy National Food Fair is conducted annually by the DTI-BDTP as a means of promoting Philippine products at the domestic level, the press release added. *MLG
