Ceres-La Salle to defend title in
2nd Sagay football tourney

Ceres-La Salle football team will defend their title against five other squads in the 2 nd Sagay Men's Open Championship this weekend in Sagay City.

Out to challenge Ceres-La Salle are Villa Angela FC, University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos FC, Negros Selection, host-Sagay North Negros Football Team and guest team Ateneo de Manila University.

The Villa Angela team is the current NOFA Men's Open champions while Ateneo dominated the competition during the UAAP Season 79.

The teams are expected to arrive in Sagay on Friday with their representatives scheduled to attend the Match Coordination Meeting at 3 p.m. and the 4 p.m. press conference at Balay Kauswagan Hotel in Sagay City.

Games will start on Saturday with the top two teams advancing to the finals.

Backed by the Negros Occidental Football Association, the tournament is part of the continuing football development program in the province and the strengthening of the sport in Northern Negros.

The competition has the full support of the City Government of Sagay City headed by Mayor Alfredo Marañon III and facilitated by sports coordinator Benson Fernandez.*
