Cop survives ambush,
shoots his assailant


A policeman survived an attempt on his life, after he was reportedly ambushed by a drug personality after midnight Tuesday in Brgy. Rizal, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.

Police Officer 3 Alvin Allarce, chief of the Drug Enforcement Unit of the San Carlos City Police Station, was shot several times, allegedly by Cristopher Pacaña, while he was driving his vehicle at 12:15 a.m. yesterday.

Allarce, who was not hit, returned fire, and managed to hit his assailant, the San Carlos police said.

Pacaña, who was hit on his left side, was immediately brought to the San Carlos City District Hospital for treatment of his injury.

Recovered from the scene of incident were a .45 caliber Colt pistol with a magazine containing four live ammunition, three fired cartridges of .45 pistol and an empty shell of 9mm caliber pistol.

Pacaña, 38, was reported by the police to be a drug personality in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.

Meanwhile, a laborer identified as Rufo Robles was declared dead on arrival at a hospital, after he was stabbed, allegedly by Joemarie Roberto, on Saturday in Brgy. Locotan, Kabankalan City.

Investigations of the Kabankalan police showed that Robles and Roberto, who were having a drinking spree, figured in heated arguments, that led to a fist fight.

The suspect went home, got a bladed weapon and stabbed the victim in the abdomen when he returned.

Roberto fled immediately after the incident, while Robles was declared dead on arrival at the Tabugon Hospital in Kabankalan City, police said.

The next day, Francisco Moradas, 22, also died on the spot, after he was stabbed twice in the back by the suspect identified by the police as Restituto Gubat, in Brgy. Bug-ang, Toboso, Negros Occidental.

Gubat ,22, who later surrendered to the Sagay City Police Station, also endorsed the kitchen knife he had used in stabbing the victim.

The suspect was later endorsed to the Toboso Police Station for detention.*GPB
