PNP internal cleansing on
BY SHIELA G. GELERA

The Police Regional Office-6 is continuing its internal cleansing as some police officers tested positive for drug use recently, Chief Supt. Cesar Hawthorne Binag, PRO-6 regional director, said yesterday.

“Sad to say, there are still hard-headed police officers but (their results) are still being subjected to confirmation,” Binag said.

He said they still cannot release the names of the police personnel involved in Western Visayas, including Negros Occidental and Bacolod City, who yielded positive results for the use of drugs pending the confirmatory tests.

He said their random and surprise drug testing continues.

In 2017, PRO-6 received 96 administrative cases, 62 of which were resolved, and 34 arestill pending, records show.

The cases resolved includes 18 police officers who were dismissed from the service, six police officers demoted, 19 suspended, two with salaries forfeited, one whose privileges were withhold, and 36 exonerated or dismissed.

Recent records of the PRO-6 internal cleansing update show that two police officer of the Bacolod City Police Office were charged administratively for neglect of duty and less grave misconduct charges, respectively.

Binag, meanwhile, said that the number of erring cops remains a super minority.*SGG
